Jari Love: Creator of the Get RIPPED! Workout DVD Series, Certified Fitness Instructor & Personal Fitness Trainer

Jari Love is a certified personal trainer and the creator of Get RIPPED!, the multiphase, no-nonsense, full-body workout system designed to help people of any fitness level shed unwanted pounds in just weeks. The hot-selling and critically acclaimed Get RIPPED! series enables individuals to burn up to three times more calories than the traditional weight-training program, and has received rave reviews from fitness critics throughout North America since the first title debuted in late 2005. Since then, she has developed a fanatical fan following from consumers and news media alike.

Jari enjoys spending time with her family, husband Ray and two children. She is always looking for new ways incorporate exercise into her daily activities even if it means doing pushups during TV commercials! Maintaining her health has also allowed her to play an active role in her community. She gives the gift of her time to local programs that aid marginalized persons as often as she can.  The statement that summarizes Jari Love's approach to life is: Take good care of yourself to ensure that you can give your best in everything that you do.

 

 

Bonnie Caldwell: BEd, BSc, Get RIPPED! & AFLCA Certified Fitness Instructor

Bonnie has had a long standing relationship with fitness -  starting with working at one of the first fitness clubs in Lethbridge in, she has continued to explore other ways to keep healthy and strong.  From team sports to sea kayaking to becoming a fitness instructor, she loves to try it all!  Bonnie stays motivated to be strong and healthy to set a good example (and to keep up with) her 4 teenage children! Her life motto is “do what you love, love what you do” and she exemplifies this as she is passionate about fitness and loves to share this with others.  Bonnie is really excited to be a part of the Get RIPPED! Bootcamp instructor roster and looks forward to helping the participants in their own personal fitness journeys.

 

Brittany Hale: Assistant to Jari Love, BComm Mktg, Get RIPPED! & AFLCA Certified Fitness Instructor & Level 2 Certified BodyMind Nutritionist

Brittany started working with Jari in May 2007 while completing her Bachelors of Commerce degree at the University of Calgary. She has since become a Get RIPPED! Certified fitness instructor and has obtained AFLCA certifications in Resistance Training, Spin, Step and Hi-low Choreography.  Featured in one of Jari’s latest DVD projects, Brittany is also involved with personal training and has trained clients in two weight-loss challenges that were followed by a local television station.  Brittany is also involved in training sports teams and teaching classes for Jari Love's Get RIPPED!  Bootcamp Program. As a Level 2 Certified BodyMind Nutritionist, Brittany is always seeking new opportunities to learn more about nutrition and hopes to use her knowledge to further help clients and participants reach their goals.  While working as Jari Love’s assistant, Brittany has been able to embrace her passions and participate in a multitude of exciting projects.  She continues to work with Jari in the development of new programs and concepts in order to help others achieve success and improve their quality of life!

 

Christine Teschl: Get RIPPED!  & Spin Certified Fitness Instructor

Christine is no stranger to the world of fitness and sports. After experiencing the Get RIPPED! program as a participant, Christine saw the value of the program and became a certified Get RIPPED! Instructor. Over the years her natural passion for sports and trying new things has led her to enjoy resistance training, spinning and running.  Even when she is traveling around the world she always stays connected to fitness in one way or another.  Being a Group Fitness Leader; Christine has learned a lot about motivating others. Christine believes that fitness is a lifestyle.“We don't need to be athletes, we just need to find activities that we love to do in order to get fit and stay healthy”. Through the Get RIPPED! Program, Christine’s mission is to give clients the tools and support they need to achieve their personal health and fitness goals.  Not only is Christine passionate about fitness; she is also passionate about helping those in need.Christine has been actively involved in supporting charitable organizations such as the Cancer Walk, the Calgary Drop-In Centre and the Sheriff King Home.

 

Darren Travers; PFT Cert, Olympic Lifting Cert, Crossfit Level 1 CSIA Level 1

Darren has been personal training over seven years. He has worked with a very wide range of clients and has been able to find creative ways to help all of them to reach their health and fitness goals. Darren is comfortable with a one-on-one setting and also enjoys teaching classes and conducting group workouts. At the end of the day, Darren’s primary objective is to help all of his clients reach their goals as quickly and safely as possible, all while having fun.

Darren first obtained his Personal Fitness Training Certification from Mount Royal University and then went on to become certified in CSIA Level 1, Crossfit Level 1, as well as in Olympic Lifting.  With Darren’s broad scope of knowledge, he is fully equipped to help people challenge themselves and reach their training goals.  Not only does Darren want to ensure success, he wants to ensure that the workouts are fun!  “When it is hard, but you are still having fun, you will see all of your hard work pay off!”

 

Dave Irvine: Certified Spin Instructor

Dave has been active all his life, participating in a multitude of sports; including swimming, diving, cycling, gymnastics, downhill and cross country skiing, running and hiking. Dave is also a PADI Certified scuba diver and takes advantage of every opportunity to enjoy this sport during his many travels.  Dave joined Fitness Plus as a member in 1998.  Searching for a way to maximize his time at the gym, he started participating in Jari’s Get RIPPED classes. Dave soon found that in addition to getting an excellent overall workout, the classes were educational and motivating.  To compliment his regime, Dave added spin classes to his workout schedule.  When a spin certification was offered at Fitness Plus, Dave jumped at the opportunity to learn more about spin, get certified and possibly teach one day.  Dave began teaching classes in September of 2009 and enjoys motivating others to achieve their fitness goals.  You can find Dave at both Fitness Plus locations teaching spin for Fitness Plus and for Jari Love’s Get RIPPED! Bootcamp Program classes.

 
 

Laurie Fownes: BSW, MSc, Get RIPPED!  & AFLCA Certified Fitness Instructor

Laurie currently works as a Program Consultant for the Public Health Agency of Canada. Laurie’s involvement in the health field has been fuelled by a belief that health is multidimensional and includes physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional components. Since participating in her first Get RIPPED! class in March of 2004, Laurie has combined her love for athletics and her passion for learning to become a group exercise leader. Since returning to work full time, Laurie seeks to balance her professional life by instructing three Get RIPPED! classes per week and volunteering at the YWCA. If Laurie is not at work or in the gym, she is out exploring the Rocky Mountains and all the wonders of nature with family (and dog Kinta!).

 

Sherri Fownes: BSc, MSc, Get RIPPED!  & AFLCA Certified Fitness Instructor & Registered Yoga Teacher

An avid hiker, cross-country skier, and naturalist, Sherri turned to the gym determined to stay fit and active after the birth of her first child. Amongst many other healthy families keen to set a healthy example for their children, her passion for running and fitness was rekindled. After her second son was born, she was recruited to join the group fitness instructors and completed her AFLCA certification and 200 hour yoga teacher training. Sherri recently returned to Calgary from Edmonton. Immediately she set out to find a place to teach fitness and yoga classes close to home and family. At Fitness Plus South, she enjoys teaching the variety hour class and subbing yoga classes. Sherri also teaches bootcamp classes for the Get RIPPED! Bootcamp Program. She is excited to be closer to the mountains and her family. Sherri is thankful to the fitness leaders and yoga instructors who encouraged her to pursue this path including her sister, Laurie, who is also an instructor and heavily involved with the Get RIPPED!
